eRx Incentives vs. eRx Payment Adjustments

If you do not participate in Meaningful Use, you are eligible to participate in the eRx Incentive program for a 1% incentive in 2012 or a 0.5% incentive in 2013. Our providers have received over $650,000 in incentive money for the eRx incentive. There is still time for you to receive the incentive by reporting on claims or through a Registry. We can assist your practice in setting up eRx and a monitoring program to track compliance.

There is still much confusion between the eRx Incentive and the eRx Payment Adjustment. Whether your providers participate in the eRx Incentive or not, all providers must submit a G code (G8553) on the same claim as the office visit E&M code for Medicare patients to avoid the eRx Payment Adjustment. We can provide you with the specific regulations and reporting options to avoid this penalty. There are also several possible hardship exemptions that may apply. The penalty for 2013 is 1.5% reduction and 2.0% in 2014 which can be detrimental to your practice depending on your percentage of Medicare business. Call us today to see how we can help.
